Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking detail-oriented individuals with knowledge and experience in working with high speed printers to apply for the Data Center Processing Clerk position. Please be advised that the official title of this position is Data Control Clerk.
Under general supervision, the Data Center Processing Clerk performs data processing operations in a medium-scale to large-scale mainframe computer operations environment; and verifies that production parameters and output meet required specifications.
The current vacancy may require the incumbent to transition to work in 3rd shift (11:00pm-7:30am) after completion of training.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:- Operations of batch processes in a large mainframe computer operations environment
- Clerical record-keeping and filing procedures
- Utilities, applications, and output management systems, such as MVS/JES, TSO, and JCL, for the appropriate operating systems
- Terminology, processes and procedures used in data processing
- Functions and operating procedures of data processing equipment
- Critical Thinking – Analytically and logically evaluating information, propositions, and claims
- Reading Comprehension – Understanding and using written information
- Professional & Technical Expertise – Applying technical subject matter to the job
- Using Technology – Working with electronic hardware and software applications
- Attention to Detail – Focusing on the details of work content, work steps, and final work products
- Handling Stress – Maintaining emotional stability and self-control under pressure, challenge, or adversity
- Professional Integrity & Ethics – Maintaining trust through honesty, adherence to principles, and personal accountability

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience: Two years of experience in data entry and output distribution in a data center facility processing daily high volume output of 5000+ documents, such as reports, checks, and job requests.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites may be required. Positions in this classification may be assigned to work a non-standard workweek that might include working weekends and shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM or 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Multiple-Choice Exam and a Structured Interview.
