- THE CITY
Culver City is a Charter City incorporated in 1917, and is a destination filled with outdoor cafes unique shops and galleries opening onto pedestrian-friendly boulevards. Culver City has a dedicated staff of approximately 700+ employees with an overall operating budget of over $235 million. The city provides a full range of municipal services including Fire, Police, Community Development, Public Works, Parks, Recreation and Community Services, and Transportation.- THE POSITION
Evaluates programs and operational issues. Collects data sufficient to support conclusions and recommendations. Completes the analysis consistent with established deadlines. Writes reports which support ideas logically. Presents recommendations and findings. Makes effective verbal presentations. Develops and presents ideas and issues in a convincing verbal manner. Maintains effective and continuing rapport with other City departments and divisions. Establishes rapport with City staff of all levels. Is effective in obtaining and providing information and resolving issues in question. Conducts research about policy and operations pertinent to the department. Maintains a current and thorough working knowledge of department programs and their requirements. Supervises staff of clerical or maintenance personnel. Performs other related duties.
Minimum Requirements
Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: two (2) years of college work and two (2) years para-professional administrative work as support staff for a division or department head. Additional experience may be considered in-lieu of education on a year for year basis. Some supervisory experience is desirable. Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license required, if assigned to drive.
Position vacancies are located in the following areas:- Community Development Department - Economic Development Division is tasked with retaining, expanding, and attracting business to Culver City. The division also oversees the City’s off-street parking operations, the Farmers Market, special events in Town Plaza and Media Park and manages the City’s Economic Recovery Task Force among other things. Associate Analyst will assist project managers with reports, research and other administrative functions including invoice processing and publishing meeting agendas using programs such as Munis, Legistar, Costar and Office 365.
- Transportation Department - Facility Maintenance provides operational support including facilities inventory, condition assessment, building systems life cycle costs, and scheduled and planned maintenance. Associate Analyst will maintain databases, assist with developing and managing the facilities condition assessment and audit program.
- Transportation Department - Finance provides development of the preliminary operating budget, revenue management, audit development/compliance and maintaining the revenue reporting system. Associate Analyst will assist with basic financial tasks, including invoice processing, budget development, financial and revenue reporting.
- Transportation Department - Planning provides mobility service planning, mobility management, transit service planning and analysis. Associate Analyst will assist in transportation project implementation, contract and project administration, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and analysis.
- EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
Applicants must receive a passing score on all examination components in order to be placed on the eligible list. Please note: There is a six (6) month waiting period to re-test; therefore, applicants who have participated in the examination process within the preceding six (6) months will be deferred and will need to re-apply after the six (6) month waiting period.- Written Test (weighted at 50%): To measure the ability to produce written responses using software applications commonly utilized by this classification. (Tentatively scheduled during the week of August 9, 2021)
- Oral Appraisal Interview (weighted at 50%): To evaluate training, experience and personal qualifications. (Tentative scheduled during the week of August 30, 2021)
