- SUMMARY
The Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA), operator of the METROLINK Commuter Rail System, is seeking a Maintenance Technician that will perform a variety of maintenance functions in carpentry, construction, painting, welding, electrical HVAC and plumbing.

The duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be interpreted as an exhaustive list of responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance of rail yard & building equipment.
- Receive and fulfill work order requests from department management.
- Perform preventive electrical maintenance on all types of electrical equipment; diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Adhere strictly to safety rules, regulations and safe work practices.
- Perform carpentry, door hardware and painting projects as needed.
- Cut and shape wood, plastic, fiberglass or drywall using hand and power tools.
- Install and replace electrical circuits, switches, panels, conduit, wiring and fixtures.
- Maintain, analyze, and repair digital controls, frequency drives, related controls and recording systems.
- Operate and make regular inspections of transformers, circuit breakers, automatic motor control circuits, disconnects, overhead cranes, exhaust and intake fans.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of telephone systems.
- Build and install a variety of materials throughout the facilities.
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or its equivalent.
- A minimum of four (4) years' experience in in carpentry, welding, HVAC and electrical fields.
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience in electrical equipment troubleshooting and repair, including 480V.
- A combination of training, education and or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered when determining minimum qualifications. Advanced relevant coursework may also substitute for a portion of required experience.
- Some trade school.
- HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and/or plumbing professional license.
Knowledge of:- Preventative maintenance requirements.
- Plumbing and pipe fitting.
- Electrical work.
- Carpentry.
- HVAC mechanics.
- Driving and towing vehicles in all weather conditions.
- Accurately document preventative maintenance work
- Maintain effective and open communication with various associates.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Transition between standing, walking and sitting at varying lengths of time
- Climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Use hands to finger, handle, feel and grasp tools to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to lift, hold and move objects up to 50lbs.
- Hear and perceive the nature of sounds.
- Listen and express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words.
- Adjust visual focus.
Work is often performed in an office or outdoor environment with exposure to loud noise. Work is sometimes performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions including hot and cold. Work is sometimes performed on and around railroad right-of-way and construction sites. Frequent exposure to freight passenger and vehicular traffic; frequent exposure to electrical, weather, mechanical, physical and hazards; frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.- SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
