The Position
The new Administrative Assistant will report to the Police Chief and perform complex technical and administrative work; support sworn/ non-sworn police staff; and interact with large portions of the San Marino community. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
•Researching and compiling data for special projects and reports.
•Processing and maintaining the department’s files.
•Establishing and maintaining complex record keeping systems.
•Assisting in a variety of complex reports, including commission, board, and/or City Council staff reports.
•Composing correspondence and compiling and/or arranging data in a comprehensible manner.
•Proofreading and editing draft reports or correspondence for errors in grammar or structure.
•Making accurate arithmetic calculations.
•Using sound judgment and applying appropriate laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
•Receiving, coordinating, and maintaining film permits.
•Reviewing invoices for accuracy and proper coding.

Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would include:
•Two years of college level course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field.
•Two years of responsible technical or administrative experience in municipal government.
