- SUMMARY
The Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA), operator of METROLINK Commuter Rail System, is seeking a hard-working and professional individual to join the Finance Department as a full-time, Temporary Special Services Employee – Accounting Assistant. This person must have good communication, multi-tasking and organizational skills. Computer skills and attention to detail are a must for this position.

The following duties are normal for this classification. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all- inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Review billing spreadsheets showing items to be pulled for billing.
- Use electronic invoice archival system, Windows Explorer and Inventory System to retrieve copies of relevant documents required for invoice support.
- Retrieve from storage and scan hard copy support as necessary.
- Network with other departments in order to complete support documentation.
- Identify portions of documents relevant and necessary to appropriately support billing charges including check copies, payment vouchers, cost distribution spreadsheets, labor timesheets or certified payroll and material and equipment support.
- Use Adobe Pro to copy relevant document support pages into a master document for the billing.
- Mark up support documents, highlighting items to be charged that agree to Billing Spreadsheet charges.
- Save in appropriate billing folder marked up electronic files and print copies as necessary.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED or its equivalent
- Minimum three years prior work experience performing similar duties to those described above
- A combination of training, education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered when determining minimum qualifications. Advanced relevant coursework may also substitute for a portion of required experience.
- Payables experience working with complex contractor invoices
Knowledge of:- Project Accounting principles and procedures
- Use of Microsoft Office products and other applicable accounting software
- Use of Adobe Pro
- Prioritize and simultaneously work on multiple tasks
- Complete work within required deadlines
- Identify, monitor, and track complex trends and patterns
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Receives general supervision from departmental supervisory roles
- No formal supervisory responsibilities
- Transition between standing, walking and sitting at varying lengths of time
- Climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Use hands to finger, handle, feel and grasp tools to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to lift, hold and move objects up to 25lbs.
- Hear and perceive the nature of sounds
- Listen and express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words
- Adjust visual focus.
