Definition: Performs a variety of difficult and complex professional accounting assignments under immediate professional accounting supervision.

Classification Standards: Positions allocable to this class are distinguished by the size, scope, and complexity of accounting activities.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Examples of Duties:
  • Receives EPD reports and transfers data to entries in the unit cost ledgers.
  • Posts entries to the general receipt ledgers.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly budget analysis, financial reports, and statements.
  • Participates in a wide variety of assignments including the annual set up and maintenance of accounting book, the classification of transactions, trial balance, closing, and end of period adjustments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: College graduation in Business Administration including completion of twenty-four (24) semester or thirty-six (36) quarter units in accounting -AND- two (2) years of professional level experience in government, public or commercial accounting or auditing. Ability to operate a ten-key adding machine by touch.

Special Requirement: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license

EXAMINATION 
Applications will be reviewed for relevant experience, education and training.  Applications must be detailed and complete for proper evaluation.  Resumes may be included but may not be submitted in lieu of application content. Only the MOST QUALIFIED APPLICANTS will be invited to the testing process, which may include any combination of oral, written and/or performance examination.  Applicants must pass each phase of the testing process with a rate of 70% or higher to be placed on the "Certified List".  Generation of a Certified List does not mean that there are any vacant and available positions at this time.  The Certified List will be available for not less than 12 consecutive calendar months.
 
THE EXAMINATION FOR THIS POSITION WILL OCCUR ON NOVEMBER 27 & 28, 2018.  If you are invited to the examination process, you will receive an email from  careers@hacla.org NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 8, 2018.  This will be your only notice. There will be no changes to the date(s) of the examination.  Should there be an overwhelming number of candidates eligible to test, at the Housing Authority's sole discretion, additional dates for this examination may be NOVEMBER 29, 2018.
