The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is recruiting for a conscientious and enthusiastic individual seeking employment in the area of clerical accounting. As an Accounting Specialist, you will perform a variety of specialized accounting functions in the maintenance, review, and reconciliation of financial records and accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:- Basic accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Financial bookkeeping principles
- Types of comprehensive government accounting reports
- Applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable laws
- Use and application of automated accounting systems
- Analyzing & Interpreting Data – Drawing meaning and conclusions from quantitative and/or qualitative data
- Mathematical Facility – Performing computations and solving mathematical problems
- Professional & Technical Expertise – Applying technical subject matter to the job
- Using Technology – Working with electronic hardware and software applications
- Action and Results Focus – Initiating tasks and focusing on accomplishment
- Attention to Detail – Focusing on the details of work content, work steps, and final work products
- Professional Integrity and Ethics – Displaying honesty, adherence to principles, and personal accountability
- Self-Management – Showing personal organization, self-discipline, and dependability
- Informing – Proactively obtaining and sharing information

- Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent with completion of 9 semester or 12 quarter units in college-level accounting courses from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Two years of experience in clerical accounting or bookkeeping.- Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above, will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a written examination, performance examination and structured interview.
