Hourly- Liquid Waste Disposal Attendant (Part-Time Position)The Sanitation Districts are currently recruiting to fill an Hourly Liquid Waste Disposal Attendant position in the Wastewater Management Department.
LOCATION:
WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT, WATER RECLAMATION PLANTS SECTION; SAUGUS WASTEWATER RECLAMATION PLANT
Note:
This is a Part-Time Position. The schedule will be 3 days/week, 7:00am-3:30pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To monitor the offloading and handling of liquid waste at a disposal station.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Job content involves greeting and providing customer service to liquid waste transporters; maintaining a daily log of transporters disposing of liquid waste at station; using a desktop computer to input data and to e-mail reports; accepting payments and verifying information and payment fees on Uniform Sewage Manifest forms; visually inspecting liquid waste loads; collecting liquid waste samples, and performing simple tests to screen for unacceptable wastes; communicating basic instructions, rules and processes to liquid waste transporters; preparing weekly and monthly liquid waste disposal summaries; monitoring and ordering inventory and supplies; completing forms; preparing samples for further analysis; cleaning up and maintain the station; opening and closing and providing general oversight of the station while open; and performing related duties as required.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates must possess a valid California Class C driver license -AND- Any amount of experience which provides the knowledge and abilities listed.
- EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
- The competitive selection process may cover knowledge of: Basic recordkeeping; customer service; and computer usage -AND- The ability to: Read, fill in and check basic documents for accuracy; utilize test equipment to perform simple comparative tests to screen for unacceptable liquids; perform basic mathematical calculations; interact and communicate effectively with Districts' employees and the liquid waste haulers; multi-task in a high-pressure environment; prioritize tasks efficiently; learn to perform basic operations using a computer.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires will be reviewed and evaluated for relevant experience.
The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 50% and an oral interview weighted at 50%.
Those candidates considered to have the best qualifications will be invited to the written examination. Candidates that score the highest on a written examination will be invited to interview.
Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward int he selection process.
Prior to appointment, a thorough reference check will be conducted.
Initial salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
The individual(s) recommended for hire must undergo a job-related pre-employment physical, which includes a drug and alcohol test, a criminal records/fingerprint check, and are also subject to review of DMV records for moving violations, chargeable accidents, or more serious charges. Employees in this classification will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver license and details the employee's driving record.
