Education, Training and Experience:
Level I: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or a closely related field. One year of recent, paid work experience performing administrative and analytical duties in water resources or a related water industry. Experience working in a water treatment plant is desirable.
Level II: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or a closely related field. Two years of recent, paid work experience performing administrative and analytical duties in water resources or a related water industry, including one year of experience in water quality analysis or regulatory compliance monitoring and reporting in a water industry.
After one year of current, paid work experience with the City of Santa Monica, a Water Quality Analyst I may be appointed to a Water Quality Analyst II upon meeting the minimum qualifications of the Water Quality Analyst II and with the recommendation of the appointing authority.
Licenses and Certificates:
Level I: Possession of a valid Class C driver license.
Level II: Possession of a valid Class C driver license. Possession of a California Grade II Water Treatment Operator Certificate. Must maintain certification as a Grade II Water Treatment Operator Certificate in the State of California order to retain Level II status.
