QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Applicable laws, policies and best practices related to workers compensation administration, leave management and workplace safety; medical terminology, anatomy, and technical terminology used in medical and legal fields regarding industrial and non-industrial cases; jurisdiction, functions, and procedures of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board; knowledge of the organization and operations of public sector organizations. Functional skills in computer programs such as Excel in order to manage large data files.
Ability to:Interpret and understand the basic provisions of Workers' Compensation laws; establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders; maintain accurate and comprehensive records; analyze facts, information, and data; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of experience and college education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field; the completion of specialized courses in Workers' Compensation is highly desirable.
Experience: Three (3) years of progressively increasing responsibilities in the area of workers’ compensation administration and management. Self-Insured certification or ARM designation is highly desirable.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of an appropriate, valid class “C” California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
