Knowledge of: Civil engineering principles and practices as applied to public services; related federal and state laws, ordinances, and regulations; methods and techniques utilized in the preparation of Public Services projects, designs, and related plans, specifications, and cost estimates; the principles, methods, and equipment utilized in surveying and materials testing. Contract administration from start to finish; State and City traffic laws and regulations pertaining to traffic control; equipment and techniques, including operation of Auto CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) software; principles and practices of GIS concepts and processes.
Ability to: perform professional engineering work; including project design; conduct inspections and evaluate construction relative to approved plans and specifications; coordinate the work of others involved in related activities; prepare and maintain records and prepare reports; interpret and apply related laws, ordinances, and regulations; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; work well with other governmental agencies in the processing of cooperatively funded projects.
Education and/or Experience Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
A minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience performing duties and this must have included experience as a project manager. A minimum of two (2) years of increasingly responsible administrative and/or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
