Education: An associate’s degree or equivalent number of college units (60 semester units or 90 quarter units) including at least 15 semester units in computer science, information technology, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Five years of information technology experience, including two years designing, developing, and implementing servers, Windows and Linux server operating systems, and/or cloud-based applications, in a large-scale environment (50+ servers, 1000+ users) providing 24/7 datacenter support operation, OR two years as a LACOE Server Engineer.
Equivalency Provision: A Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification, a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification, or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation may substitute for one year of the required general experience. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. Qualifying experience as a SQL/MySQL Server database administrator is highly desired. Positions in this classification may be assigned to work a non-standard workweek that might include working weekends and shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM or 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
