Requirements

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university with twenty-one semester or thirty-two quarter units of information systems or accounting classes, of which at least 8 semester units or 12 quarter units are information systems classes**.

Withhold Information:
Applicants who will meet the Selection Requirements by August 31, 2022, may also apply.
Such applicants will be placed on "withhold" status on the eligible list until the Selection Requirements are met and photocopies of the degree and official transcripts are received by the analyst and verified by our human resources unit.

Education Requirement Information:
*Accreditation: Accredited institutions are those listed in the publications of regional, national or international accrediting agencies which are accepted by the Department of Human Resources.
Publications such as American Universities and Colleges and International Handbook of Universities are acceptable references. Also acceptable, if appropriate, are degrees that have been evaluated and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from United States accredited institutions by an academic credential evaluation agency recognized by The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE). International transcripts require an evaluation report which validates and converts international units, credits, or hours etc. into U.S. semester or quarter units. The evaluation report must be done by an evaluation agency recognized by The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Job Bulletin Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.

**In order to receive credit for any degree or completed college courses, you MUST:
- Attach the supporting documentation to your application at the time of filing -OR-
- Email the supporting documentation to fkumala@hr.lacounty.gov by no later than May 6, 2022.

Candidates who currently meet the requirements must submit a scanned copy of their official transcript(s) for proof of completion of the required courses and bachelor's degree as stated in the Selection Requirements.

Candidates who will meet the requirements by August 31, 2022 must submit unofficial transcripts showing proof of current and continued enrollment (e.g., Winter/Spring 2022 enrollment, current course enrollment) toward meeting the Selection Requirements by August 31, 2022.

Failure to provide supporting documentation which clearly shows that you currently meet or by August 31, 2022 will meet the Selection Requirements may result in your application being rejected.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class II – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience assisting in the design, development, and testing of business systems.
  • Experience assisting with the development of systems documentation, program specifications, or user manuals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytic tools such as: Cognos, Tableau, SAS, Watson, qlik sense, and PowerBI. 
  • Experience with any of the following software: Visual Basic, .net, C#, Java, HTML5, SQL, Web services, business intelligence software such as Crystal, and Web Focus.
  • Experience with Unix or Linux applications.
  • Experience providing end user training or technical support.

Applicants must meet the selection requirements and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment in order to be placed on the eligible list.

TRANSFER OF EXAMINATION COMPONENTS:
- Applicants who have taken identical components recently for other exams may have their scores automatically transferred to this examination.
- This examination contains test components that may be used in the future for new examinations and your test scores may be transferred.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
 
VACANCY INFORMATION
The resulting eligible list will be used to fill vacancies in the Department of Auditor-Controller.
