DEFINITION

Working at the direction and under the supervision of an administrator or resource teacher, implements a computer lab program for the reinforcement of student academic skills; coordinates the use of central computer time for any satellite sites.

There is currently 1 vacancy.  The incumbent will work 5.2 hours per day, 5 days per week, 9 months per year.  Salary based on actual hours worked.  Selected candidate shall start at Step 1. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent GED or higher.  Document upload required.  Advanced education, such as an Associate (AA) degree or beyond is highly desirable.

Experience: Equivalent to one (1) year of full time experience working with adolescents in some capacity.

SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS

The ability to read, write and speak another language, in addition to English, particularly Spanish or Armenian, is desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties of positions in this class include but are not limited to:

  • working with the classroom teacher and resource teacher/administrator,
  • selects appropriate instructional program levels in accordance with established guidelines;
  • develops lab schedules and coordinates student and class lab attendance;
  • implements an on-going motivational program for students;
  • if so directed, provides orientation for new students and classes;
  • operates on-site main computer/file server and lab equipment;
  • monitors and assists students with computer lessons;
  • prepares worksheets for classroom use;
  • assists with the supervision of students using the computer lab;
  • develops additional information for record keeping purposes;
  • provides information to teachers for parent conferences, meetings, open houses, etc.;
  • supervises use of computer lab equipment;
  • arranges for maintenance and repair of lab equipment;
  • coordinates on line use of programs with satellite sites, including trouble shooting any on-line problems;
  • maintains computer lab learning environment, i.e. bulletin boards; seating charts, etc.;
  • maintains and provides computer records regarding use, student gains and record storage;
  • attends meetings as required;
  • performs related duties as required.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Skills in: Operating the on-site main computer/file server system; using the networked computers housed in computer labs.

Knowledge of: Basic principles of child growth and development; use and operation of on-site main computer/file server and equipment housed in computer lab; content and use of a variety of computer software; English grammar, spelling and usage; basic math computations and applications through learning level eight (8).

Abilities to: Learn to use an onsite main computer/file server for instructional purposes; assist certificated staff in supervising and managing large groups of students; understand and follow oral and written instructions; use good judgment; communicate effectively orally; adapt quickly to changing situations; establish effective communication and rapport with students; develop record keeping system; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and others; maintain sensitivity to ethnic, religious, cultural, and sexual differences; pay attention to detail
