Job Summary

Plans, implements, and coordinates programs and projects that support the Risk Management Division's cost containment efforts in one or more of the following areas: workers' compensation, liability, contractual risk transfer and occupational health and safety.  Performs complex analytical studies and policy analyses. Manages consultants and vendors, and supervises staff, as assigned.

Major Duties

Identifies and assesses the operational and financial feasibility of implementing new and innovative risk management cost containment programs/projects; prepares reports summarizing findings and makes implementation recommendations.
 
Plans, implements, and coordinates risk management cost containment programs/projects.
 
Formulates policies and procedures in support of risk management cost containment programs/projects.
 
Evaluates and monitors cost containment program/project effectiveness on an ongoing basis; identifies, validates, and implements recommendations for improving program/project outcomes.
 
Provides training to division staff and external departments on risk management programs/projects. 
 
Provides information and guidance to departments on risk management policies, regulations and requirements.
 
Oversees and monitors the work of consultants to ensure contract compliance.
 
Prepares and monitors division budgets and budget-related activities (e.g., actuarial process, rate-setting process, etc.).
 
Assists with Risk Management Information System (RMIS) user administration, including generating reports, providing general technical assistance to system users and serving as back-up for RMIS administrator tasks.
 
Oversees and coordinates the work of staff, as assigned.
 
May serve as the Risk Manager's representative on various boards.   
 
Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Gather and analyze complex technical information, prepare concise reports and make recommendations.

Education, Training and Experience:
 
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, risk management or a closely related field.
 
Three years of recent, paid work experience which has included performing research, analysis, report writing, and program management in the field of risk management.  An Associate in General Insurance (AINS) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation is desirable.
 
Licenses and Certificates:
 
Possession of a valid class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
