Our very busy, full-service department is in need of temporary support for all areas of Human Resources. This is an excellent opportunity for a service oriented, organized, problem solver who can think "outside the box" to fulfill the needs of a very busy department. Appointment will be made at the Human Resources Specialist or Human Resources Analyst level depending on experience and qualifications at the City's discretion.
THE POSITION
The HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST performs general and moderately complex and routine technical and paraprofessional work in support of human resources and risk management functions and programs; processes payroll, benefits, and MOU updates; performs compensation and benefit analyses; researches and provides information concerning employee relations practices and completes special studies; administers recruitment and selection functions for vacant positions; assists with workers’ compensation and liability and claims processes; and does related work as required
The HUMAN RESOURCES ANALYST performs a wide variety of journey level professional, administrative, analytical, and coordination duties in support of human resources functions and programs in the areas of recruitment and selection, classification, job evaluation, compensation, workers’ compensation, organizational development and training, and labor and employee relations; conducts, reviews, and presents administrative, financial, and personnel studies and reports; and does related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES
HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST: Ability to plan, organize, and complete studies, projects, and reports in accordance with department standards and work deadlines; analyze information and present clear and concise reports and recommendations; provide technical guidance to other staff positions; conduct orientation and enrollment sessions; perform basic mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; operate a variety of different types of office equipment; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, staff, employees, management, vendors, contractors, and consultants; maintain the confidentiality of sensitive personnel information and records. HUMAN RESOURCES ANALYST: Ability to plan, manage, and coordinate the activities of human resources programs, projects, and related services; select, assign, train, supervise, motivate, review, and evaluate the work of employees; conduct human resources, financial, and administrative analyses and present reports and recommendations; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, City employees, staff, management, consultants, contractors, vendors, and other public and private representatives; maintain the confidentiality of sensitive personnel matters.
