The City of Long Beach, Department of Health and Human Services is recruiting for one (1) unclassified, full-time, at will Public Health Associate II to serve as a HIV data entry clerk in the Physician Services Bureau. Reporting to a Public Health Professional I in the Clinical Services Division, this position will support all integrated HIV Care, Prevention, and Surveillance data collection and reporting, including quality management activities, and entering California HIV/AIDS case surveillance data through the Enhanced HIV/AIDS Reporting System (eHARS), the AIDS Regional Information and Evaluation System (ARIES), and other data systems as deemed appropriate based on HIV program requirements and outcomes. This position is located at the Main Health Department, 2525 Grand Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90815.

• Supports and assists with entering, tracking, and monitoring HIV Care, Prevention and Surveillance, Partner Services, and linkages to HIV medical care data; 
• Works collaboratively with HIV/STI Surveillance staff and refers cases to the DIS team; 
• Works with local providers to follow up on lab results; 
• Collects and disseminates information, including HIV/STI education, to medical clinics/providers; 
• Supports the clinical quality management team in ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and standards of care; 
• Conducts evaluations of clinic flow and performs quality improvement activities to assist the team in maximizing the efficient use of clinic resources; 
• Supports programs in implementing best practices for tracking and reporting, and improving overall data system capacity; 
• Assists with preparation of related documents and reports; and, 
• Performs other related duties as required.

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
• Four years of experience supporting clinical and/or public health program activities. [Academic degrees in Public Health, Health Services, Epidemiology, or a closely related field may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis (proof required for substitution to be applied*).] 
•  Valid Motor Vehicle Operator License. (Required to obtain a California Motor Vehicle Operator License within 6 months of employment if out of state. California residents are required to submit a DMV K4 driver license information report during onboarding if selected for the position.)

• Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Services, Epidemiology, or a closely related field. 
• Experience with HIV/AIDS data systems, such as ARIES, eHARS, and/or NextGen or other Electronic Health Record Systems.
• Working knowledge of quality management and quality improvement methods and/or tools.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be flexible, and manage multiple assignments in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and populations by consistently exercising tact, good judgment, and a proactive, problem-solving focused style.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to be detail oriented and forward thinking.
• Proficiency in the use of office productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
