Job Description

 

Department(s): Provider Data Management Services

Reports to: Director, Network Management

FLSA status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: L - $37.0192 - $52.4038 ($77,000 - $109,000)

 

Job Summary

 

The Data Analyst Sr will provide advanced technical expertise for all data reporting and analysis functions for the Network Management department, including developing, designing, and maintaining databases. The incumbent will serve as the main point of contact to develop and design reports that will assist with the routine operational requirements of the department. The incumbent will develop ad-hoc reports in response to requests by senior management, the Board of Directors and as required by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). The Data Analyst Sr will conduct complex data analyses and develop data reports in support of major CalOptima initiatives.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

• Designs reports from the system of record as needed to ensure data integrity.

• Has in-depth knowledge of CalOptima's DHCS and/or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data reporting requirements and produces reports for DHCS accurately and on a timely basis.

• Develops provider accessibility reports utilizing FACETS data and Quest Analytics software.

• Maintains and modifies current databases used by Network Management staff based on internal feedback.

• Analyzes data, identifies data inconsistencies, and provides feedback to resolve issues.

• Produces provider directories as required for all CalOptima's lines of business.

• Uploads and provides reporting on health network member Primary Care Physician (PCP) data.

• Develops ad hoc reporting requests.

• Manages and executes requests from departments to enable the faxing of information to constituents.

• Develops Board of Directors (BOD) conflict of interest reports to be used in conjunction with the monthly BOD meetings.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

 

Possesses the Ability to:

 

• Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of data sources used for reporting.

• Develop and maintain knowledge of the agency's lines of business and health networks.

• Work independently and mentor less experienced team members.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with CalOptima leadership and staff.

• Work on complex projects and perform senior-level data quality analysis.

• Present information in a useable format and be able to clearly explain the content.

• Prioritize tasks and use time efficiently.

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

• Utilize computer and appropriate software (e.g., Microsoft Office; Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and job-specific applications/systems (e.g., Microsoft Access, FACETS, Cactus, Structured Query Language (SQL), Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Quest Analytics software, Tableau software) to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position assignment.

 

Experience & Education

 

• Bachelor's degree in or the equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job required.

• 5 years of experience working as a Data Analyst in the health care industry, or in a managed care environment, required.

 

Knowledge of:

 

• Microsoft Access to create ad-hoc reports and design databases.

• Microsoft Excel to manipulate data and produce charts/reports applicable to reporting requests.

• Quest Analytics software to develop reports to analyze provider adequacy and accessibility.

• Tableau software for creating dashboard type of reporting for Network Management.

• Managed Care concepts.

• Medicare and Medi-Cal guidelines, regulations, and data reporting requirements.
