The Position

The Human Resources Division is now accepting applications for Staffing Specialist, Human Resources.

The Staffing Specialist, Human Resources coordinates the day-to-day operations of the substitute staff services unit for the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE); develops, prepares, and presents substitute personnel training programs; determines and prioritizes certificated and classified substitute job assignments, and assigns and/or reassigns qualified substitute personnel as needed to meet program needs; and performs related duties as required. This job class is responsible for the effective establishment and maintenance of personnel records and reports requiring independent judgment in the application of established personnel policies and procedures. Employees in this job class receive limited supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class requires initiative, accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to focus on multiple tasks within stringent timelines.


This position is full-time and has a work year of 12 months / 261 days / 8 hours per day.

Education and Experience

Any combination equivalent to:
  • Education: College-level course work in human resources, public administration or a related field may be considered as partial fulfillment of the work experience requirement, AND
  • Experience: Two years of clerical/technical experience involving complex record-keeping; high level of interpersonal contact; and independent judgment.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
Assessments and interviews will take place virtually via Zoom Meetings. Our procedures reflect social distancing guidelines of the Santa Clara County Office of Public Health. Please email the Recruitment Contact listed on job postings if you have any questions. 

Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated. The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for TBA. Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in a panel interview with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for TBABased on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list. Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for TBA. Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their Governmentjobs.com applications, or as updated by candidates in their Governmentjobs.com master profiles. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily.
