DESCRIPTION

The Business Engagement Work Experience (WEX) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) Specialist will support the implementation of the Bureau’s employer engagement (business services) strategies, including support of Rapid Response and lay-off aversion; recruitment and talent acquisition services; worker pipeline development; and other related services. 
 
In addition, the position will support staff leads developing opportunities to connect career counseling staff and customers to resources and private/public sector employers to help keep their work relevant and industry focused.  


The position will work closely across a team of five adult and youth programs and will support multiple projects, grants, and initiatives. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

The position will report to the Business Engagement Manager, and will work collaboratively to support and report quarterly and annual goals, launch new projects and align with related services offered within the Department. 


This position will also support the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on an as needed basis. 


Position will require the use of several database and management information systems including but not limited to CalJOBs. In addition, the position may require the carrying of a caseload and the participation in contract setup, management, and execution with employer partners.

 

REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

 

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, or closely related field (experience offering specific and substantial preparation of duties of the position may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis);

  • Minimum of one  (1) year of recent professional experience offering specific and substantial preparation of duties of the position in the public or private sector. A Master’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, or closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required professional experience;

  • Qualified applicant should have some industry expertise, or knowledge, in one or two of the following sectors Healthcare; Information Technology; Construction & Utilities; Hospitality & Retail; Aerospace/Aviation/Space; Transportation, Distribution and Logistics; or Advanced Manufacturing.

  • Possess valid California driver’s license;

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, including employers, adult residents, dislocated workers and youth, by consistently exercising tact, good judgment and a proactive, problem-solving focused communication style;

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
