The City of Carson is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Secretary. The ideal candidate must maintain an outstanding and excellent spreadsheets skills and abilities. This position plays a pivotal role in the assigned department, reporting directly to the department's director, assisting with variety of administrative and secretarial level tasks.

Required Documents:- Typing certificate indicating 60 wpm (obtained within the 12 months prior the date of application submission)
- Resume, reflecting recent and relevant experience
- Proof of the highest education earned, claimed on the job application, excluding proof of graduation from high school/G.E.D. certification. Foreign degrees must be accompanied with proof of equivalency from an accredited agency.
Position Information:
There is one current vacancy (FLSA: Non-Exempt), with Monday to Thursday, 7 am to 6 pm (with one hour unpaid lunch break) work schedule.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of a General Manager, performs specialized complex and confidential secretarial and administrative duties. Primary liaison between the General Manager and City Manager, Elected Officials, managers, supervisors, clerical staff, outside agencies and the general public; may organize and monitor the work of clerical staff.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant training and experience. Applications must be complete, and include any and all required documents. Only those applicants determined to be among the most qualified may be invited to participate in the recruitment process which will consist of the following testing components:
- Supplemental questionnaire, no weight
- SME review, no weight
- Written exam, weighted at 40%
- Oral exam, weighted at 60%
The Human Resources & Risk Management Department reserves the right to adjust, modify, delete and/or change the above testing components and/or weights.
Supplemental questionnaires are used to evaluate applicant’s indicated abilities with the ideal candidate profile. Applicants must achieve a cut-off score of 70% or above on each of the written and the oral exams to be placed on the eligibility list. Passing any and/or all does not guarantee an invitation to the selection interview. The Human Resources & Risk Management Department reserves the right to invite those amongst the highest scoring to the next phase of the recruitment.
Revisions to a testing component during a recruitment process can be made at the discretion of the Human Resources & Risk Management Department. Applicants will be notified by email if a revision is made. An eligibility list will be established in accordance with the City's Personnel Rules, Rule VI, Employment List Procedures.
