POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision organize and coordinate the daily activities and operations of attendance functions: perform, compile, post, update, and maintain complex attendance records and related reports; contact students, parents, counselors, teachers, and administrators regarding attendance related matters. The attendance clerk receives limited supervision and exercises independent judgment within a framework of standard policies and procedures related to attendance and attendance accounting.

1. Perform daily attendance record keeping activities required to maintain accurate school attendance records E
2. Prepare daily reports, compile information and account for all absences E
3. Greet and contact students and parents, explain attendance procedures, answer questions, provide information and give general assistance related to attendance E
4. Input attendance data into computer database and compile reports using database information E
5. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information E
6. Type memos, letters, reports related to attendance or other general office requirements E
7. Perform a variety of clerical tasks to support the school office E
8. Supervise student aides E
9. Stay current on attendance reporting procedures E
10. Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE OF:
General policies, regulations and procedures governing school operations; general office procedures, practices, and operations, including filing systems, public contact, telephone techniques; preparation of correspondence, Standard English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary; general knowledge of computer operations
ABILITY TO:
Operate computer word processing program, student data system, and district financial system; learn, interpret, and implement school procedures within a framework of specific policies, rules and regulations with appropriate judgment; type; maintain cooperative and effective working
relationships; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; operate common office machines; learn currently used computer applications and programs; interact in a tactful and courteous manner with a diverse community
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Performs work which is primarily in an office setting; requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects (keyboard, telephone, and common office machines); requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print; requires the mobility to stand, walk, stoop, reach, and bend; requires lifting, pushing and/or pulling books, supplies, equipment (mobility equipment), and packages which do not exceed 30 pounds and is an infrequent aspect of the job; may require working at a computer screen for prolonged periods
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Completion of high school or equivalent
2. Any combination of education, experience, or training that meets or exceeds the qualifications
3. Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility
