The Position The City of Long Beach, Department of Financial Management is in search for two Customer Service Representative II (Non-Career). This position is in the Fleet Services Bureau and works in the Towing and Lien Sales Division. The Towing and Lien Sales Division is responsible for providing tow response, roadside assistance, unclaimed vehicle disposition and impounded vehicle storage and release services to Police and other City departments. These positions are stationed at the Towing Yard, 3111 East Willow Street and report to the Superintendent of Towing and Lien Sales
Non-career employees are not typically eligible for health/dental/vision benefits; however, they may be eligible for sick leave benefits. Non-Career employees are limited to 1,600 work hours per service year (approximately 29 hrs/week) and are not guaranteed a minimum number of work hours. These are at-will part-time positions.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Answer telephone calls from customers regarding towing charges and processes to recover impounded vehicles;
Assist customers to recover impounded or towed vehicles at the service counter by accepting payments;
Escort customers to their vehicles in the storage lot after release paperwork is processed;
Assist with vehicle lien sale activities as needed
Processes & files vehicle release and lien sale paperwork in file storage areas.
REQUIREMENTS TO FILE
Six months of recent clerical, cashiering, data entry, or customer service experience or training;
Ability to perform simple mathematics calculations;
Ability to exercise tact, judgment and patience in assisting the public and client departments;
Ability to work nights and weekends.
