Under the direction of the Director, Human Resources, is responsible for the process and procedures for the accurate maintenance of the District's Position Control including verifying and inputting all entries and reconciling the reports with the Accounting and Budget Sections.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure data is properly inputted in the Human Resources system on a timely and accurate basis to properly maintain the District's position control system. This class is distinguished from the class of Data Control Technician in that an incumbent does not perform lead responsibilities. However, the incumbent does have overall district responsibility for the integrity of the District's position control. Due to the complexity of the work and the substantial impact of inaccurate position control data, this position is graded at the same level as a Data Control Technician. It is distinguished from the class of Data Control Clerk I in that the Data Control Clerk I performs a variety of tasks under well established procedures requiring less independent activity, whereas the Human Resources Position Control Technician helps develop processes, procedures, has overall responsibility for the position control data and reconciling it with the Accounting and Budget Departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS
Experience: Five (5) years of clerical experience, two (2) years of Human Resources data control work desirable.
Education: Must possess a secondary (i.e., high school) school diploma, or its equivalent (GED). Completion of courses in computer science is desirable. Possession of an Associate (AA) degree, its equivalent, or education beyond an AA degree is highly desirable.
SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS: The ability to read, write and speak a language, in addition to English, such as Spanish or Armenian, is desirable. Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License and use of a private automobile, or alternative means of transportation, may be required in some positions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and responsibilities of this class include
Receives, verifies for accuracy and completeness, and logs incoming data/forms affecting the position control
Establishes procedures and forms control techniques
Identifies errors in data and makes necessary corrections or refers data to the appropriate party for corrections
Maintains files, logs of information and forms for follow-up
Communicates to other departments in response to questions from users regarding procedures, schedules and status of position control
maintains count of total documents received and controls/monitors disposition of approval and updating processes
Reconciles on a scheduled and recurring basis the position control information with the Accounting and Budget responsible party
Produces reports for management which assist in the hiring, budgeting and union negotiations process
Identifies software failures and is responsible for reporting them and getting timely action to correct and assists in problem solving
Performs other related duties as assigned

APPOINTMENT: Employees who receive a regular appointment to the class must serve a probationary period of one hundred and thirty (130) days of paid service. During this period, an employee must demonstrate an overall satisfactory level of performance; failure to do so shall result in the employee's termination without right of appeal to the Personnel Commission.
