Job Summary

Participates as a member of the City’s Youth/Family Services team performing analytical and administrative duties that contribute to the delivery of services to the community. Analyzes policy issues, compiles data from studies and conducts surveys.

Major Duties

Assists in the administration of the City’s Human Services Grants program specific to youth and families, including the establishment of funding priorities and recommendations with respect to youth programs

 

Monitors contract compliance for City-funded agencies. Reviews and assesses audited financial statements from City-funded agencies. Provides technical assistance to non-profit organizations on program development, policies and procedures, project/program budget, documentation and data collection, program outcomes and other administrative and fiscal areas

 

Works with City divisions, non-profit service providers, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, Santa Monica College, other community organizations and members of the public to ensure the effective coordination of youth and family services within the Santa Monica Cradle to Career network

 

Performs various public relations tasks including the development of written or web-based materials related to youth and family programs and the Santa Monica Cradle to Career initiative

 

Provides information and assistance to the public and staff on the Santa Monica Cradle to Career initiative. Participates in professional organizations and makes presentations to the public

 

Researches information on local, regional, state, national, and international youth and family issues and legislation. Identifies evidence-based best practices related to youth and families and cradle to career networks, conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses and prepares reports with recommendations for courses of action

 

Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders

 

Keeps abreast of changes in relevant regulations and laws in area of youth and families

 

Interprets and applies rules, regulations and policies. Revises, modifies and assists in writing new policies and procedures

 

Trains, supervises, assigns and evaluates the work of clerical support in area of assignment, as required

 

Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:  

 

Issues relating to serving youth and families, including vulnerable subpopulations

Youth and families service needs, programs and related community issues

Program and project development, implementation and evaluation relating to youth and families populations

Principles and practices of public administration

Quantitative and management analysis techniques

Program and partnership development and management

Principles, practices and techniques of community outreach and public education

Principles of program planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation

Relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations

Effective supervisory techniques

Supervisory principles and practices

Effective customer service techniques

 

Ability to:

REQUIREMENTS

 
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

 

Experience: Two years of recent, paid progressively responsible experience which has included performing research, analysis, report writing and program development and evaluation in the area of youth and family services.
