DEFINITION
Provides a wide variety of complex clerical, financial and operational support including
developing marketing and promotional materials for the Farmers’ Market section. Responds to
public inquiries and assists Farmers’ Market staff with the associated programs, services,
policies, and procedures. Plans and conducts adult and youth education programs. Manages
a Farmers’ Market, as needed.
Tracks weekly sales data from load sheets and inputs market summary reports. Accurately tabulates and records total number of market participants. Tracks and follows up on late payments with market participants.
Assists with batch reports of weekly receipts and monthly billing statements and inputs market sales data. Creates summaries, financial reports and periodic payments and reports to regulatory agencies, as assigned.
Performs mathematical computations and other financial data using a personal computer, 10-key calculator and other office equipment running specialized software.
Performs data entry. Accesses data to make edits and to perform queries and mathematical calculations.
Reviews and processes requests for warrants and payment of invoices.
Processes Farmers’ Market billing and deposits revenue.
Maintains routine bookkeeping and financial records.
Proofreads and edits written materials for accuracy, clarity, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Prepares written materials for publishing and storage in a variety of electronic formats.
Prepares a variety of correspondence and materials related to the operation of the Farmer’s Market including creating informational flyers and memos to the farmers, patrons, and local businesses.
Assists in developing and coordinating outreach strategies and marketing promotional materials.
Recruits and trains volunteers and as-needed staff to conduct youth education classes at a variety of days and locations including the Wednesday farmers market, schools, parks, and day camps.
Responds to inquiries from the public and other City staff in-person, over the telephone and by e-mail. Assists customers with requests for information and services. Makes referrals to appropriate sources.
Provides information to the public and other City staff regarding programs, services, policies, and procedures. Assists customers with business interactions, including the completion of required forms and receiving payments. Assists customers in resolving disputes and discrepancies.
Files and maintains a variety of records, forms, documents, and correspondence. Develops and maintains recordkeeping systems.
Orders, issues, and maintains office supplies and equipment.
Assists in gathering data for studies and surveys.
Assumes the duties of the on-site Market Manager in his or her absence, as assigned.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience: Three years of recent, paid work experience performing a variety of complex clerical support duties. Recent work experience must have included financial support duties and frequent contact with the general public. An associate degree (or 60 semester units at an accredited college or university) may substitute for one year of the required work experience.
