NATURE OF WORK:  Under general direction of on-site supervisor helps in the coordination and provision of Employment Technology Center (ETC) activities, and/or Youth and Family Activities in a Housing Authority public housing site. Interns will assist youth and adults in pre-employment activities to include resume writing, job application, interview techniques, and job search; may also assist with providing after-school related activities such as arts and crafts, tutoring, or field trips.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

TYPICAL DUTIES:  Assists in the provision of on-going employment, educational and recreational activities following a determined quarterly schedule, provides computer-based training, job preparedness, or enriched recreational opportunities for children, youth and adults programs; provides weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports, including data base reports including regular attendance and progress. Interns assigned to the ETC will conduct regular computer system checks, routine maintenance, and basic networking; opening and closing center on regular basis maintain security alarm monitor reports; and establish and maintain good tenant relations.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:  Knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office software; ability to train, and motivate a wide variety of audience, including teaching/speaking before a class of people; demonstrated commitment to the empowerment of public housing residents. Demonstrated ability to train others, master new skills, carries out organization procedures, practices and methods of office functions and good customer service.

Ability to plan, organize, monitor and coordinate training programs and services; ability to track participant improvement, assess progress, and general case manage of participants; deal tactfully and effectively with residents, employees, outside agencies and the public; meet schedules and deadlines; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; able to relate and interact with various cultures and language groups; prepare various reports, flyers, and brochures; train and develop participants and subordinate staff and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current enrollment or graduation from an accredited  junior college or four years university with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration or closely related field (degree may be in progress); supplemented by one (1) year of experience in providing research and analysis assistance; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Requirement: Must have a valid California Class "C" Drivers' License at time of employment. Must also bring in official sealed college transcripts when scheduled for the qualifying interview.  Failure to bring Official Sealed Transcripts will result in disqualification for this recruitment.
