Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $300 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Under the leadership of the Associate Director, this position provides advanced-level support to a wide variety of Human Resources functions with specific emphasis benefits, leaves of absences, workers compensation, and will be regularly involved in other functions of the department.
Essential Job Functions
Assist in administering employee benefits programs and aids and information to employeesPrepares benefits and new hire packages.
Monitors long-term leave of absences to ensure effective implementation of leave of absences policies.
Participates in managing and coordinating workers' compensation program.
Supports all recruitment efforts.
Assists with annual performance review process.
Completes terminating employee exit interviews.
Interfaces and communicates with employees regarding HR policies and procedures.
Assists employees and managers with HR questions.
Ensures worked performed is compliant with all HR regulatory requirements.
Provides supports in all HR functions and any projects, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office.
Excellent organization, analytical, written and oral communications skills.
Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, while exercising sound judgement.
Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex problems.
Must be a confident self-starter who can develop effective business relationships, both internally and externally.
Training & Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in human resources environment.
Experience benefits, recruitment, workers compensation, and leaves of absences.
Minimum of an aPHR credential and an AA Degree.
Any combination of extensive and applicable work experience and educational credentials performing the above duties successfully.
