 The Mission of Torrance Transit System is to provide safe, reliable, inexpensive
 and courteous transportation to our customers the people who live,
 work and do business in the 
City of Torrance and the region.

The Torrance Transit System provides dedicated service to the South Bay Community of Los Angeles County.  With an annual budget of 31 million dollars, Torrance Transit has a staff of approximately 160 employees, operates a fleet of 63 alternative fueled CNG buses and provides public transportation service to almost four million riders on an annual basis. Torrance Transit was originally established in 1940 and began providing service between Torrance and downtown Los Angeles.  Today, Torrance Transit operates 11 fixed-routes which extend to areas outside of the City of Torrance, including neighboring cities, regional connection hubs, and Metro rail stations.

The Transit Department has three divisions: Administration, Operations and Fleet Services.  Torrance Transit is seeking to hire an Administrative Analyst in each division.

The Administrative Analysts in the Transit Department are key positions that have an active role in the analysis and reporting of data; research and interpret data impacting key performance indicators; and manage special projects to achieve transit objectives.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills would be acceptable.   A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

A Bachelor's Degree from a college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and at least one (1) year of related professional experience; or two (2) years of related college course work and four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative or analytical experience.
 
The ideal candidate will:

  • Be proficient in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access);
  • Have the ability to monitor and track divisional workloads and projects, identify issues and trends, and make recommendations to ensure accurate and efficient operations;
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform research, and analyze and communicate data; 
  • Exercise sound judgement and strong problem-solving skills; 
  • Be an effective communicator with the ability to convey clear and succinct messages verbally and in writing;
  • Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Be familiar with Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL) systems is a plus; 
  • Have experience in Transit Operations and/or development and administration of grants.
