THE POSITION Under general supervision, the Parking Enforcement Officer will enforce local ordinances and state laws governing parking of vehicles.
Duties may include, but are not limited to: utilize excellent customer service skills to enforce all parking regulations on City streets and municipal parking lots; write and issue notices of violation for all parking time zones or vehicles parking in an unsafe or illegal manner; mark and impound abandoned vehicles and conduct investigations regarding delinquent parking citations. The incumbent will respond to questions from internal and external customers in a timely, courteous, and professional manner; prepare detailed written reports and maintain complete records on activities involving parking enforcement; report damaged or inoperative traffic signals and report any hazardous conditions to supervisor; and perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One year of work experience requiring frequent interaction with the public Experience in enforcing parking laws and regulations of the City Municipal Code & Vehicle Code is highly desirable Must have a valid California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record Must be at least 18 years of age at time of submitting employment application Education equivalent to high school diploma

WORKING CONDITIONS AND HOURS This is a part-time position with working hours to be assigned at the discretion of the Police Department. Applicants must be able to work flexible hours, which may include mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekend shifts; must be available to work on average 20 hours per week. Duration of assignment is determined upon the needs of the Department.
