The Office of the Chief Deputy Director is seeking transfer candidates interested in serving as Special Assistant to the Chief Deputy Director for the Department of Public Health (DPH). The Special Assistant is tasked with coordinating sensitive Public Record Act request responses; serving as Administrative and Finance Liaison; and providing high-level project support.
Essential Job Functions
The Special Assistant will report to the Senior Advisor to the Chief Deputy Director. Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Managing highly sensitive and complex Public Records Act requests for the Department; working with DPH programs and County Counsel to obtain and transmit sensitive information.
Serving as the Administrative and Finance Liaison for the Office of the Chief Deputy Director; attending quarterly meetings and adjusting processes as needed; onboarding new employees and handling all administrative and human resources needs.
Assisting in the analysis and research of solutions to administrative and budgetary challenges.
Serving on high-priority workgroups and managing special assignments based on departmental needs.
Managing the Chief Deputy Director's office in the absence of the Senior Advisor.
Serving as a member of the DPH Safety Committee and as Building Emergency Coordinator for DPH headquarters.
Requirements
MUST BE A COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES EMPLOYEE WHO HOLDS THE PAYROLL TITLE OF ASSISTANT STAFF ANALYST, HEALTH.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Public Health.
Proven capacity for high-level critical and strategic thought; ability to process complex issues, identify potential challenges, and integrate various perspectives.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
Established customer service skills.
Proven ability to work well with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience with eHR, NEOGOV, Performance Net, and other internal administrative systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
