Examples of Essential Functions:
Performs a wide range of complex paralegal functions, including but not limited to, legal research, conducting interviews, interfacing with clients, and assisting in the preparation, processing, and monitoring of a wide range of legal matters.
Manages and oversees the Housing Authority's subpoena and public records request responses with assistance from a supervising attorney, including coordination with other departments to obtain requested documentation, review documentation and redact privileged information, provide appropriate documents to requesting party, and correspond with requesting law firms and third-party service providers.
Assists in reviewing legal documents (including litigation and transactional documents) to determine whether they comply with specific legal and procedural requirements, and process such documents as appropriate.
Assists attorneys in drafting documents related to litigation such as complaints, motions and discovery, as well as transactional documents such as contracts and real property related transactions.
Summarizes, organizes, and indexes testimony, depositions, documentary material from interrogatories, and abstracts; organizes and manages trial documents and exhibits.
Communicates with other Housing Authority departments as needed, and assists in reviewing for completeness information furnished by program staff in matters referred for legal proceedings.
Gathers factual information and performs routine legal research to assist an attorney in determining appropriate action.
Prepares documents for opening and closing files for internal administrative purposes.
Prepares correspondence and reports, including financial calculations.
Maintains legal database and generates various reports as required; maintains and updates law library; prepares periodic and special reports; prepares correspondence as support to the Attorney's court appearances.
Responds to questions from tenants, employees, and other agencies regarding functions of the assigned office; assists in ordering supplies, equipment, and legal publications; assists in researching of and handling of legal documents.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school graduation or equivalent; supplemented by completion of an accredited paralegal course and two (2) years of experience as a paralegal; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid California Class "C" Driver's License.
