Major Projects and Programs (MPP) is responsible for the end-to-end project management, design, estimating and construction of all distribution and transmission projects. These projects and programs include Vegetation Management, State Infrastructure, Pole Replacement, Rule 20, Capacity/Reliability Planning, Storage, WRO, and Mobile Home. MPP is also responsible for overseeing two major programs in our wildfire risk mitigations plans, the system hardening of distribution line miles and the system inspection in high wildfire risk areas. MPP strives to deliver certainty in work execution by performing work safely, effectively and efficiently.
The Graphic Design Intern will work with the VP, Electric Program Manager Principal and the Major Project and Program leadership team to design presentations and PowerPoint templates for future presentations. The Intern will be asked to help polish presentations, create graphics for client deliverables, and manage production of internal documents. The intern will also participate in brainstorms sessions for organizational design. In this position you will be asked to push the convention and use your creativity to disseminate information in concise and visually appealing manner.
Create visual communications utilizing Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Design custom PowerPoint templates to communicate information across the organization
Proofread/edit communication materials including monthly newsletter prior to distribution.
Prepare visual communication graphics for presentations
Use strong communication design sensibilities and an understanding of how composition, information hierarchy, working together to drive home a message.
Help Design branding for MPP Organization including quarterly newsletters, employee messages, conference presentations
Help create PowerPoint templates for executive slide decks based on guidance from the department strategist
Help create process documentation and process guides using Adobe Creative Suite
Earning a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a Communications, Graphic Design, or related field. Students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship
Experience in using design thinking to understand the use case, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding.
Experience designing slide templates to convey information to a wider audience
Experience in using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop C, Illustrator CC, Acrobat Pro
Previous graphic design experience
Exquisite attention to detail with an eye for composition, spacing, alignment, consistency, cohesion and management
Excited by working on varied tasks from day to day and can roll with the punches
Have a portfolio demonstrating strong understanding of good graphic design principles
Ability to juggle multiple projects without sacrificing the quality of the deliverables.
