The City of Santa Monica offers an exciting range of internship opportunities that provide an insider's view into work within local government.
Interns have the opportunity to be integrated as an operating member of the City team and be provided with work experience that gives a realistic view to an organizational environment. The experience will enhance the student's awareness of the internal dynamics of an organization and the values and perspectives of employees within a municipality with respect to both the community that is served and the City of Santa Monica team. The internship should give students the opportunity to be become aware of their obligations as professionals and to the delivery of service to the public.
The 8 week Summer Intern Program will include supplemental educational sessions which will focus on leadership, management and career development.
Graduation from high school or the equivalent. Must be a student in good standing at an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration or a closely related field and maintain full-time student status (minimum 9 semester units) at an accredited college or university.
HOW TO APPLY: Applicants must submit a clear, concise, completed City Application along with any required supplemental application and resume with the Human Resources Department by the filing deadline.

SELECTION PROCESS: All applicants will be reviewed aby Human Resources and those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications on the basis of experience, training and education, as submitted, will be referred to participating departments for selection interviews. Departments will review applications and interview those candidates who have the education, training or experience that best matches their particular vacancy.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS: Candidates who have successfully completed all prior phases of the selection process will be subject to a thorough background investigation.
