The Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA), operator of the METROLINK Commuter Rail System, is seeking a member of the PTC Communication & Signals Engineering division you will get the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a wide variety of professional level engineering duties and responsibilities. You will collaborate with industry professionals and support the Positive Train Control, Communications and Signals department with daily operations.
The ideal candidate will be able to thrive in a fast paced work environment. This person makes good decisions is energetic, hard- working, excited and able to multi-task. Selected candidates are curious, willing to learn and able to bring new and fresh ideas to Metrolink.


  • May perform a variety of administrative support duties such as conducting research, gathering data, preparing spreadsheets, and other similar functions.
  • Review test and procedural documents and reports to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of trouble tickets and defect tickets.
  • Maintain worksheets of train control documents and data center assets.
  • Observe and/or conduct tests in train control laboratory
  • Technical writing for procedures supporting data center management
  • Prepare written communications.
  • Evaluate programs and processes to recommend improvements.
  • Provides assistance on special projects.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.


  • Must be currently enrolled in a college, university, educational institution, vocational school or program and demonstrate a commitment to public service and our shared values. Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
  • A combination of training, education and or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered when determining minimum qualifications.  Advanced relevant coursework may also substitute for a portion of required experience.
  • Receives supervision from departmental management/supervisory level roles
  • This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities

  • Conduct field visits and be able to successfully complete Roadway Worker Protection training

  • Ability to lift, hold and move objects up to 25lbs.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature.
