MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in accounting or auditing on a professional level.  Governmental accounting experience is highly desirable.  A CPA license is desirable but not required.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Generally accepted accounting principles and auditing principles and practices.
  • Principles of financial administration, including budgeting, financial reporting, data processing, and purchasing.
  • Modern office practices, procedures, methods and equipment.
  • Software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
SKILL IN:
  • Basic accounting and auditing concepts.
  • Use of computers, computer applications, and software, and preparation of complex spreadsheets and Word documents.
  • Identification and implementation of adequate internal controls.
ABILITY TO:
  • Interpret and apply general provisions of accounting and auditing in order to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Use computer applications and software for billing, business license, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; understanding oral and written directions as provided.
  • Review and maintain complex and extensive official records; and prepare and input journal entries.
  • Compile technical information and preparing statistical and operational reports.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Train and evaluate technical and clerical personnel.
  • Organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and complete assignments with minimal direction.
  • Perform mathematical calculations and analysis and resolve problems involving complex variables.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to those contacted in the course of work.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Class C California Driver's License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed in a standard office environment.  May be required to travel to various sites, locations, and/or events. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.  Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours; employees are required to assume duties of a disaster worker in the event of a locally declared emergency.
