DESCRIPTION

The Long Beach Police Department has immediate openings for full-time, unclassified Clerk Typist III in the Investigations and Support Bureau. The individuals selected will provide direct support to the Division Commander.
 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Monitoring and maintaining the calendar for the Division Commander
  • Assigning, tracking and completing project assignments
  • Creating and processing Purchase Orders and invoices
  • Tracking, collecting, and routing division payroll timecards
  • Typing and/or proofreading correspondence, memos, etc.
  • Maintaining divisional files
  • Preparing divisional quarterly reports
  • Miscellaneous duties, as requested by the Division Commander

REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

  • Three years of full time clerical and/or administrative experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Valid Driver's License
Successful Candidates will Demonstrate:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and general office skills
  • Ability to work with staff and management at all levels of the Department, City and outside agencies, specifically Division staff
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Tiburon and processing invoices
  • Ability to handle confidential matters in a professional manner
  • Flexibility in taking on new tasks and assignments and willingness to perform other related duties as required
  • Ability to coordinate meetings and special events
