The current vacancy will be assigned to Business Analysis Application Development and Support. The eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be used for other assignments, should additional vacancies occur while the list is valid.
The common theme for all departmental efforts is "services and solutions delivery", so a high level of service support is essential. The primary focus of this assignment is to manage, design, configure, develop, maintain, and support business systems and multiple enterprise applications. The incumbent is responsible for the planning, acquisition deployment, development of technology solutions and ongoing support of departmental and citywide applications. The City currently has a number of critical projects in various phases of implementation.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and hands-on experience with business process analysis, development and programming. The incumbent will be passionate about technology, team-oriented, collaborative, an independent thinker and able to establish positive relationships with staff, peers and other departments' staff. The ideal candidate is capable of communicating with management and employees at all levels of the organization. A creative thinker and solutions-oriented focus are essential capabilities for this position. A background which includes a mix of private and public sector hands-on experience with IT business applications for software development projects and a solid understanding of Microsoft Sharepoint or SQL database administration is desirable.
JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, performs professional duties related to the analysis, development, maintenance and administration of computer hardware and/or software systems to meet business needs.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Differs from Information Technology Analyst IV in that the Information Technology Analyst III is the fully trained journey level within the series; incumbents are expected to independently perform the full range of information technology work. Information Technology Analyst IV is the advanced journey level within the series; incumbents are responsible for the most difficult and specialized information technology work and may exercise lead authority when assigned to complex assignments and projects.
Incumbents may be assigned to perform work in support of Business Systems or Infrastructure.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
Experience: Three (3) years professional-level information technology experience in business analysis, server analysis and administration, or network design/administration.
License/Certificate: A valid class "C" California driver license with an acceptable driving record required at time of appointment and throughout employment.

Public Employee Disaster Service Worker: In accordance with Government Code Section 3100, all Huntington Beach city employees are required to perform assigned disaster service worker duties in the event of an emergency or a disaster.
Incumbents must be able to meet the physical requirements of the class and have mobility, balance, coordination, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Incumbents use a computer keyboard and related equipment. Incumbents sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, crouch, twist, bend, push, pull, reach, grasp, and lift. Moving tools and equipment weighing 50 pounds or less may be required. When work is performed outdoors, there is full exposure to various weather conditions. Must utilize approved safety equipment and protective, gear, including but not limited to hard hats, respirators, life vests, and/or hearing protective devices. Near vision required to read correspondence, plans, specifications and other information. Acute hearing is required when providing telephone service and communicating in person. Duties may require working in confined areas. Off-site assignments and irregular work hours, including evenings and/or weekends, may be required.
