Under the direction of Chief Human Resources Officer and/or Director, Human Resources, performs and oversees a variety of technical and specialized duties involved in ensuring certificated personnel possess valid and appropriate credentials for their assignment; monitors certificated assignments, salary levels, applications and renewals to ensure compliance with credential requirements; maintains assigned databases and generates various reports; assists in the recruitment, selection and employment of certificated personnel.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The primary responsibility of a position in this class is to provide clerical, technical, and informational assistance to members of the certificated staff regarding processing new certificated employees and certifying and maintaining credentials and records of certificated employees. An incumbent must work independently and, often, provide information which will be subject to review. The incumbent must apply state laws, rules and regulations concerning certification and must advise applicants and current employees.
This class is distinguished from other classes in the Personnel Series in that the work performed by the Credential Services Specialist involves making credentialing decisions, in addition to providing information where judgment, knowledge and interpretation of personnel policies is based on a possession of a vast body of knowledge about the California Credentialing system.
The incumbent must exercise considerable independent judgment in providing information to others, and must reliably apply state laws, rules and regulations concerning certification while advising applicants and current employees.Knowledge of:
